Canada’s first online national smart grid repository

May 18, 2012

SmartGrid Canada in partnership with Natural Resources Canada has launched Canada’s first online smart grid repository. This smart grid repository is the new principal gateway connecting the national smart grid community to relevant sources of information in one centralized location.

With the increased smart grid activity across Canada, there became a need to create an online portal to share knowledge and collaborate on R&D and demonstration projects. This public sharing of information helps utilities arrange the most efficient and effective technologies, while promoting Canada’s smart grid industry. It will also help the industry integrate smart grid technology on a broader scale as well as providing industry leaders with real-world best practices that can be applied to their own projects. The repository will also facilitate dialogue among the industry from different parts of the country.

Part of a global set of initiatives for information sharing, the repository is an opportunity for Canada to promote its world leading capability in smart meters, time of use rates, renewable integration and supplying power to remote communities.
